While the Duchess of Cambridge attended the national Portrait Gallery Gala in London last night wearing her go-to label Alexander McQueen; Amal Clooney opted for an all-white Jean-Louis Scherrer by Stephane Rolland 2007 Haute Couture gown for an evening soirée over at Buckingham Palace. She attended the dinner, which was hosted by Prince Charles to celebrate the work carried out by the Prince’s Trust, with her husband George Clooney.
Of late, celebrities have been wearing archival ensembles with aplomb – from Cardi B in a Mugler gown to the Duchess of Sussex in a Courreges Haute Couture coat. The Scherrer label Amal wore officially folded in 2008, but the white caped Grecian-style gown, sourced from William Vintage, is timeless in its appeal.
