Roger Dubuis Experiments With Titanium In Its New Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium Timepiece
Today, Roger Dubuis unveiled its latest masterpiece in its bespoke universe of Hyper Horology™ — the Excalibur Monobalancier Titanium. Fusing the innovative — and notoriously light — material of titanium Grade 5 with expressive design and horological expertise, Roger Dubuis has created a timepiece that exudes the power of lightness in both its feeling and design elements.
Proving to be 33% lighter than the legendary Excalibur MB, the new titanium timepiece was designed with a modern lifestyle in mind, from its naturally soft and hypoallergenic nature to its high anti-corrosion and anti-magnetic properties. The dial and case adhere to the signature Roger Dubuis design DNA, creating the bezel and case in the Maison’s complex and expressive shape – ultimately becoming a major technical feat working with such a soft metal. On the dial, SuperLuminova® is applied on the hour markers, the tips of the hands, and the logos to ensure the timepiece is just as vibrant at night. The bracelet is also crafted with titanium, using strategically shortened links to better fit the wrist. Catapulting the titanium timepiece into a new echelon, Roger Dubuis has also adorned the timepiece with a premium matte metallic sheen complemented by shiny polished bevels on the bracelet.
At the heart of this timepiece is the automatic RD720SQ, a caliber renowned for its impeccable performance. The micro-rotor is designed to minimize vibrations, while the remarkable inertia of its balance wheel maximizes stability and reduces its sensitivity to shocks. The caliber also features the advanced mechanics of the diamond-coated silicon escapement wheel paired with diamond-coated silicon pallet-stones, ensuring an impressive 72 hours of power reserve. And you cannot deny that the skeletonization of the movement certainly adds to the timepiece’s airyness.
