Dutch boatbuilder Holterman Shipyard has launched the second unit in its X78 Fly superyacht series. The 23.9-metre will soon be delivered to her “highly experienced owner” and join sistership Brute on the water.

The yacht is the latest addition to the shipyard’s X-Treme series and has a low profile and generous hull by BerndWeel Design. The Dutch studio has also adapted the X-Treme 78 Sport’s superstructure glazing to accommodate the eponymous flybridge, which is designed with Mediterranean cruising in mind.

“After the 32.7-metre Lady Fleur, there was a lot of demand for smaller yachts with the same looks and ethos – clients were in love with the styling and design, and that spawned the Xtreme range,” explained Bernd Weel. “The range quickly grew, and every project had a client involved – there was never a spec build. The X-78 Fly has been no different.”

Accommodation is across a full-beam owner’s cabin, a forward VIP cabin and two guest en suite doubles below. The yacht’s design highlight is its “multifunctional and highly sociable upper deck”, which is fitted with a wet bar and sofa seating. The deck is also partially sheltered under a hardtop with sunroof.

Powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 1250s, the yacht will be able to reach a maximum speed of 28 knots and a cruising speed of 20 knots.

Technical features include a hydraulically operated stern platform capable of lifting a tender of up to 1000kg, Volvo-Penta dynamic positioning and a thermal FLIR camera in the engine room for system monitoring.

The model is also in accordance with French anchoring restrictions thanks to her sub-24-metre LOA.
